The 2.73-mile, 14-turn circuit temporary track brought world-class racing through the heart of the city’s entertainment district.

With a straightaway feature nearly a mile long and racing speeds reaching approximately 180 miles per hour, drivers raced past two iconic sports venues: AT&T Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys, and Globe Life Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

The project required early coordination, precise planning and performance testing with the INDYCAR team to ensure Texas Materials could pave the pit area and the start-finish lanes with minimal disruption to local businesses or the broader project. The asphalt mix design needed to withstand the extreme demands of racing, including intense heat and friction. To meet these requirements, Texas Materials produced custom asphalt mixes for all surfaces to ensure functionality and durability and used precision paving techniques to achieve a one-eighth-inch tolerance, ensuring accurate elevations on the track.

No Grand Prix racetrack would be complete without precast concrete barriers, and Oldcastle Infrastructure was uniquely positioned to collaborate with INDYCAR’s engineering team to produce the required 2,800 custom concrete barriers from its Northlake, TX, plant. Using a proprietary interlocking system, the installation throughout the track footprint was quick and efficient, ensuring each barrier, weighing 10.5 tons, was placed well before the race began.

Building on a proven, successful relationship with the customer, CRH demonstrated seamless integration of its connected portfolio and capabilities throughout the project. The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington project showcases CRH’s’ ability to deliver a world-class racing circuit with precision, partnership and performance.
