Complex infrastructure projects require strong coordination and adaptability. Nothing happens in isolation, and everything has to connect and move together from the start. The A0 Highway Ring Road in Romania is one such example.

With a total length of approximately 62 miles (100 km), divided into two semi-rings, the A0 Highway is set to facilitate road transit around Romania’s capital city, reduce urban traffic congestion and improve mobility between regions. A project of this scale demanded specific technical requirements: bridges and viaducts, railway and protected area crossings, reinforced foundations and durable road layers. And each section of the highway presented its own specific challenges, shaped by the characteristics of the terrain and the technical requirements of the project.

Drawing on the scale and deep local relationships between CRH’s group of companies in Romania, expert teams showed up with different skills and worked as one.

TehnoWorld were on the ground early, delivering the systems that move and protect essential utilities including pipes for water networks, drainage solutions and cable protection solutions – clearing the way for construction to begin. Elpreco supplied the concrete pipes for stormwater management.

At the same time, Ferrobeton supplied prefabricated components like precast beams and composite slabs, ensuring the strength and precision required by the project’s structures, whilst Bauelemente complemented the works through the supply and installation of these foundational structures.

Romcim supplied cement for structural work, road concrete and site-cast beams, as well as specialized road binders, as the project began to rise out of the ground – critical materials to deliver solid foundations and durable base layers.

And it didn’t stop there! As the project moved on, CRH kept showing up, supporting every stage, above and below ground, from first works to final layers. The A0 Highway Bucharest Ring Road is taking shape as one of the most significant investments in Romania and CRH were there every day – different companies – different roles – all moving together as one. This is what it looks like when everything connects – a project built through collaboration and expertise. This is CRH’s connected model and it’s what allows us to take on complex projects like this in a way very few others can.
