Roadstone, a CRH Company, has provided the ideal solution for their customer who wanted to design a functional but aesthetically pleasing, eye catching piece of infrastructure, acting as a sustainable transport solution and reducing congestion within the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Solutions to the challenges of modern urban living
Roadstone’s vibrant red Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) was used in the development of a striking new cycle lane in Belfast city. This stunning, bespoke surfacing was produced at Roadstone’s “Ultracolour” manufacturing facility in Allen Co. Kildare. It incorporates a clear binder to enhance the visibility of the red pigment, bolstered by red aggregates to add longevity to the coloration.
Roadstone produced the material to the project’s exact specifications and leveraged its logistical expertise to transport it to Belfast, ensuring it retained its consistency and workability before being laid with precision onsite.
This project is one of many examples of how Roadstone’s “Ultracolour” asphalt is providing visually attractive and functional cycle lanes to towns and cities across Ireland.
Through innovations like this, CRH is developing efficient, aesthetically pleasing construction solutions which meet the challenges of modern urban living and creating more resilient built environments around the world that can keep pace with constant change.
