CRH Companies, Roadstone and Hydro International, provided an optimal stormwater system for a new development in Dublin – planned to deliver 11,000 new homes.
The project required a 1,500m³ (52,972 cubic feet) underground storage system, but an original off-the-shelf design proved unsuitable due to existing services, restricted access and limited excavation depth.
By combining Hydro’s specialist water-management capability with Roadstone’s deep knowledge of local geography and terrain, the team designed a fully re-engineered and customized solution that reduced risk, ensured compliance and could be installed safely and efficiently despite multiple site constraints and complex drainage issues.
Early engagement with the customer enabled CRH to deliver a fully bundled offer – including hydrobrakes and attenuation tanks for the stormwater system and over 22,000 tons of stone, 11,000 tons of asphalt, clay offtake and installation support from the materials side of the business. Meanwhile close coordination between the two companies proved for quick decision making and seamless design adjustments as site conditions evolved, proving once again the value of a single, joined‑up delivery model from CRH.
