Blackbird Infrastructure, a joint venture of CRH Canada, its Dufferin Construction division, Cintra (a global developer of transportation infrastructure), and Ferrovial Agroman was selected as the preferred proponent for the Highway 407 East Phase 2 project in the Greater Toronto Area. CRH Canada along with Cintra were selected as the developers of the project which entails financing and project ownership, and Dufferin Construction and Ferrovial Agroman, as the preferred proponents for the construction of the project.

The project will extend Highway 407 approximately 22 kilometers; connect it to Highway 401 – the country’s busiest highway – via a 10-kilometre link roadway that will also serve as a north-south freeway; provide eight new interchanges, as well as three freeway-to-freeway connections among the other major highways in the area.

The scope of this project not only entails construction but also the maintenance of Highway 407 East Expansion for 30 years, providing an opportunity for CRH companies in Ontario to continue to supply material for the project over the coming years.
