CRH Company, Eco Material Technologies, the leading producer and supplier of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in North America, has opened a new pilot processing center and expanded its testing laboratory at its Materials Testing and Research Facility in Taylorsville, Georgia – marking a significant step forward in CRH’s ability to develop, validate and scale next-generation cementitious materials.

The opening of this new facility will help advance new supplementary cementitious materials from lab to real-world use. The expansion includes a new pilot processing center, and the addition of a comprehensive 16,400-square-foot research hub, combining advanced research, pilot production and technical services in a single integrated facility. Combined, this will:

  • Enable pilot production and testing of next-generation cementitious materials, accelerating the path from development to commercial deployment
  • Increase capacity to evaluate a wider range of materials, including harvested ash and natural pozzolans including research into material characterization, concrete testing, and durability analysis across paste, mortar, and full-scale concrete applications
  • Support customers with validated mix designs and technical expertise to improve performance, consistency, and reliability in their projects
  • Catalyze new employment opportunities

“This investment strengthens our ability to move faster from innovation to implementation, ensuring the materials we develop are not only advanced, but proven to perform in the field,” says Serge Schmidt, President of CRH’s cementitious business.

“Combined with the additional advanced laboratory resources and expertise available at both Ash Grove and CRH, this facility is ideally positioned to lead innovation in cementitious materials and play a pivotal role in shaping the modernization of construction,” he continued.

The expansion highlights Eco Material’s continued investment in research and innovation and its position as the leading producer and supplier of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in North America.
