Innovation in action
Innovating with New Technologies
CRH Company Tarmac collaborated with National Highways on an innovative resurfacing scheme on the A64 Bramham that reduced the carbon footprint by 75% compared to traditional methods. The reductions were achieved by combining biogenic and long-life asphalt technology, renewable fuels, advanced paving techniques and reclaimed asphalt planings from the existing carriageway.
Improving Product Performance
CRH Company Ash Grove lowered the clinker factor by 6% between 2021 and 2024 in the Leamington cement plant while maintaining product performance. Replacing clinker with limestone reduced CO2 emissions by 50,000 tonnes.
Solving Customer Challenges
CRH Company Dufferin Concrete supplied 40,000 m3 of a lower CO2 concrete mix for the River and Fifth Condo project in Toronto, Canada that reduced the project’s CO2 footprint and addressed the challenge of high heat hydration as thick concrete elements are cured.
