CRH’s Social Policy, applied across all Group companies, is to:

Social performance management
Implementation of social policy and monitoring of social performance is the responsibility of operating company management. They are supported by the HR structures within the Group in this role and in reporting through the divisional structure to Group headquarters.

CRH continues to commit significant resources to training and developing employees’ knowledge and skills throughout the organisation, believing that this is essential to continued business success.
Employee satisfaction is monitored at operating company level. Low absenteeism rates and other metrics point to a high level of employee satisfaction throughout the Group. The continued growth of the Group regularly creates opportunities for talented, ambitious people.
CRH recognises that a key factor in the success of the Group is the quality of its business leaders. CRH commits significant resources to training and developing high-potential employees throughout the organisation to meet the leadership challenges of performance and growth. All of CRH’s Divisions run Leadership Development programmes in conjunction with Group HR, complementing the initiatives at company and product group levels. Succession planning tools, on-the-job development, coaching and mentoring are widely used to ensure there is a continuous availability of leadership talent to meet the Group's strategic objectives.
Commitment to Human Rights – Tackling Modern Slavery
CRH is fully committed to human rights and supports the principles as set out in the articles of the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights and the international Labour Organisation (ILO) Core Labour Principles.
As part of this commitment, CRH plc has published it's 2017 Commitment to Human Rights – Tackling Modern Slavery statement in which it outlines its efforts to combat any abuse of human rights and the steps being taken to ensure slavery or human trafficking do not occur within its sphere of influence. Responsible supply chain management
Due to the local nature of CRH businesses, most suppliers are local. Individual operating companies source raw materials and supplies externally and also internally from other CRH companies. Procurement standards are applied throughout the Group on a global basis with special attention paid to the protection of human and labour rights for purchases in developing regions.
CRH is committed to sourcing components and materials from companies that share the Group’s values regarding respect for human rights, integrity and social responsibility. CRH requires all suppliers to comply with the OECD guidance as well as Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act which aims to prevent the use of minerals that directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or in adjoining countries (“conflict minerals”). Our neighbours and the community
CRH companies form an integral part of the communities in which they operate and are sensitive to the impact Group operations may have on our neighbours, particularly those in the immediate vicinity of our businesses.
CRH has a well-established practice of supporting well-focused initiatives in education, environmental protection and job creation at a corporate level. At company level, support is very much focused on local neighbour and community initiatives. All support initiatives are monitored centrally and reported annually to the CRH Board.
