Inclusion and Diversity a key priority for CRH

On March 8, CRH employees across 28 countries showed their support for International Women’s Day (IWD) with a series of events and activities.

IWD is a global day to mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and is organised around a central theme each year. In 2022 the focus is on #BreakTheBias – calling for proactive action to build a more inclusive world where everyone feels respected, valued and treated fairly.

Operating companies and Divisions across CRH marked IWD in various ways. For example, our Americas Materials Division announced the launch of Evergreen, a Women’s Employee Resource Group (WERG) for colleagues in the Great Lakes region. This aims to educate employees, both women and men, on ways to better promote and advocate for women in the workplace.

With such a broad and rich mix of people, across so many cultures and geographies, inclusion and diversity (I&D) is an important priority for CRH and the Group is committed to promoting gender diversity, and diversity in all its forms, across our global operations.

Our ambition is to be a business where everyone has the same opportunity to develop and progress. As part of our focus on building a more inclusive and diverse CRH, we have set a target of 33% female leadership by 2030. In 2021, 22% of our senior leadership were female and we continue to focus on increasing the representation of females in senior leadership and executing our I&D strategy across the Group.

We have appointed a Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer and through the work of our Global Inclusion & Diversity Council, which is led by our Chief Executive, we continue to make important strides.

To lead and embed change throughout CRH we have established I&D Committees across our three Divisions and corporate offices. In addition, our businesses are implementing local I&D plans and we have rolled out specialised training to over 5,000 leaders across our business.

We actively monitor female participation in our workforce and we are committed to increasing the number of female employees, at all levels, in our Group.
