The city of Bochum invested around €1 million renewing this neglected square into an attractive recreational area, including flower beds, trees and pergolas to complement the colourful paving. In so doing, they helped helped regenerate the Hufelandplatz into an amenity for the whole community.
Prerequisite for the contract closing was the fulfilment of a demanding requirement list of high-level material properties. The mix of aggregates and the resulting special colouring of the surface was just as important a criterion as the frost, de-icing salt, and UV resistance as well as the surface finish.
EHL, A CRH Company, supplied 3,750m² of surface-protected pavers for this project, in colours designed to realise its vivid patterns.
The excellent know-how of the EHL technicians and the partnership with its suppliers enabled the EHL AG to make a “spot-landing” by meeting the high expectations of the landscape planners.
