Western Rock Products, A CRH company, was a major materials supplier to the iconic Horseshoe Bend Overlook project, that started in November 2018. The construction of the rim railing and viewing platform allows visitors with disabilities to enjoy the viewing area and trail, while increasing safety in line with the American Disabilities Act.
Over the last several years, visits to the Horseshoe Bend Overlook at the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area have increased dramatically and thousands of visitors from around the world visit the attraction daily. This prompted the city of Page and the National Park Service to join forces and address congestion and safety concerns. Western Rock Products was selected as a supplier and provided over 300 cubic yards of readymixed concrete and 6,000 tons of roadway aggregates for the new parking lots and for the construction of the overlook.
Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River, located in the town of Page, Arizona. The overlook is at a 300 metre (984 feet) drop, looking down onto the Colorado River and has approximately one million visitors annually.
