DJSI

We performed strongly against our peers in the 2023 S&P Global Annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), maintaining our place in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index.





CDP

CDP, formerly Carbon Disclosure Project, collates data on carbon emissions and carbon management on behalf of named institutional investors and rates companies for disclosure and performance.

We have participated in the CDP since 2003. Our 2023 Climate questionnaire was awarded CDP’s highest A score and our Water questionnaire received a B score.

CDP Supplier Engagement

CRH has been recognised by CDP as a Supplier Engagement Leader in 2022, raising the level of climate action across our value chain.

 

FTSE4Good

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.

We continue to be included in the FTSE4Good Index.

Euronext Vigeo Eiris

The Vigeo Eiris group specializes in the qualitative assessment of companies according to social and environmental criteria and following a set of specifications related to sustainable development.

As of March 2023, we were included in the Euronext Vigeo Europe 120 Index and the Euronext Vigeo Eurozone 120.

MSCI

As of June 2023, CRH rated AAA (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.

ECPI

As of March 2023, we maintained our place in the ECPI® Indices.

ECPI focuses primarily on the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance factors that determine issuers’ sustainability and intangible market value. ECPI research covers over 4,000 issuers and maintains one of the world's largest sustainability databases.

Sustainalytics

As of February 2024, CRH has an ESG Risk Rating of 20.6 from Sustainalytics and was assessed to be at Medium Risk of exposure to different material ESG issues. We continue to be recognised for our strong management of ESG Material Risks in our Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating.

Climate action ambition

We fully support the goals of the Paris Agreement and are working towards delivery of our ambition to become a net-zero business by 2050.

We have set an industry-leading target to deliver a 30% reduction in absolute carbon emissions by 2030 (from a 2021 base year).

The SBTi has validated that our near-term science-based carbon emissions reduction targets are in line with a 1.5°C pathway.

Operating Companies

Dufferin Aggregates, Milton Quarry – World Biosphere Area

Dufferin’s Milton Quarry is a designated World Biosphere area. Rehabilitation plans in the area have created new habitats for over 120 bird species, 37 butterfly species and 6 amphibian species, including the northern leopard frog.

TexasBit – Women of Asphalt’s ’20 to Watch in 2020’

Luiza Barros of TexasBit, part of our Americas Division, was named on Women of Asphalt’s ’20 to Watch in 2020’ list. Women of Asphalt supports women in the asphalt industry in North America through mentoring and advocacy, while also encouraging more women to pursue careers in asphalt. The ’20 to watch’ list includes outstanding individuals who have achieved success, effected positive change in the industry and given back to their community.

Tarmac – Clear Assured Bronze Standard Accreditation for Inclusion and Diversity

Tarmac, part of our Europe Division in the UK, recently received Clear Assured Bronze Standard from assessment body The Clear Company for its work with inclusion and diversity. This accreditation was awarded due to the successful changes to policy and processes, as well as a fundamental cultural shift across the company, reflecting the efforts undertaken by all employees and leaders to foster and celebrate a fair and supportive culture that promotes opportunities for all.
