Results of Rights Issue

Result of Rights Issue

19 March 2009

CRH plc ('CRH') today announces that it has received valid acceptances in respect of 143,545,418 new ordinary shares of CRH ('New Ordinary Shares'), representing approximately 94.4% of the total number of New Ordinary Shares offered to Qualifying Shareholders pursuant to the 2 for 7 rights issue announced by CRH on 3 March 2009 (the 'Rights Issue'). A total of 152,087,952 New Ordinary Shares were offered to Qualifying Shareholders in the Rights Issue, which closed at 11.00 a.m. on 18 March 2009.

In accordance with the arrangements set out in Part IX of the prospectus dated 3 March 2009 (the 'Prospectus') relating to the Rights Issue, the underwriters will be seeking acquirers for the remaining 8,542,534 New Ordinary Shares, for which valid acceptances were not received.

The Rights Issue was fully underwritten by UBS Limited, J&E Davy, Barclays Bank PLC, BNP Paribas and RBS Hoare Govett Limited.
