survey to determine the current state of Investor Relations in
Ireland and to identify the leading companies in the field.
This report and the IR Magazine Ireland Awards are part of a
continuing series of studies and events organised by IR magazine in
the US, the UK, Canada, Latin America, Australia, Asia, South
Africa, the Nordic region and continental Europe.

Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants Published Accounts
Awards are the premier recognition of excellence in financial
reporting in Ireland. CRH has won this award in 2004, 2002,
2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1995. In 2005 CRH was awarded
the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
CRH continues to be ranked among sector leaders by a number of
leading SRI rating agencies. Recent examples include:
CRH membership of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes
In September 2006, CRH continued in both the Dow Jones World and
STOXX Sustainability Indexes, as assessed by SAM (Zürich),
which noted that:
“CRH
continues to demonstrate strong commitment in addressing key
corporate sustainability challenges. The strong efforts in reducing
the environmental footprint of its business activities and
continued dedication to safety improvement, combined with best in
class human resources management, make CRH a CSR reference company
for the building materials sector.”
FTSE4Good
In March 2006, CRH became a constituent member of the FTSE4Good
(London) index, with the comment that:
“FTSE Group is
delighted to confirm that CRH has been independently assessed
according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the
requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index
Series.”
Innovest
In June 2006, Innovest
(London) raised CRH to an “AA” rating, stating that:
“CRH has made significant improvements in addressing its key
corporate responsibility risks. The company demonstrates its
awareness of the strategic profit opportunities that can be derived
from environmentally beneficial products, and intends to
incrementally progress towards reporting in accordance with the
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines by
2007.”
Vigeo
In January 2006, Vigeo
(Paris) indicated in its sector review that:
“CRH’s performance on CSR issues is in the top three
performers. It demonstrates positive and stable performances for
customers and suppliers, human rights, community involvement,
corporate governance and human resources, and an improved rating
for environmental issues compared to its 2004 rating.”
Additionally, our companies won over 300 national and regional
industry accolades for excellence in environmental and safety
performance. All these recognitions and awards encourage us to
strive for even greater success in the years ahead.
Storebrand Investments
In March 2007, Storebrand Investments SRI industry overview of
construction materials stated:
"CRH's CSR Report 2005 is an example of a particularly well
structured report; each section being organised into policy,
management system and performance; covering most of the central
sustainability issues in the Industry."
